Persons Of Interest – Friday Kitcommentary
Additional losses were noted in gold prices overnight following Thursday's late afternoon long-liquidation slump in values.
Although said sell-off was primarily driven by jockeying for position ahead of this morning's US labor market statistics and by a salvo of soothing words on the US economy by Mr. Bernanke, this morning's continued drop towards the $1,360.00 pivotal price support area had another, somewhat familiar, yet quite clear motivating factor: China [...]

Gold Drops Late After Closing Higher, Silver Plunges
U.S. gold prices dropped in after-hours trading Thursday after its settlement was higher for a fourth straight day. Silver, which was the only precious metal on the day to close lower, fell even further.
"Comex gold futures dropped further in after-hours trading Thursday afternoon amid some fresh selling pressure due to gold-market bearish remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke," noted Jim Wyckoff [...]
NGC Certifies Newly-Discovered American Platinum Eagle Variety
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has announced that they have certified a newly-discovered platinum eagle variety.
The latest oddity to surface in the U. S. Mint's American Eagle Bullion Coin series is a 2007-W platinum $100 piece in proof with an obvious die-polishing error.
This popular coin type, which features a facing eagle with wings outstretched, also includes a shield on the eagle's breast [...]
US Mint Sales: 2011 Bullion Eagles Off to the Races
An increase in 2010 Silver Proof Eagles and record-approaching 2011 Silver Bullion Eagles are the most interesting aspects in the latest US Mint sales report.
The Proof Eagle coins have seen two weekly adjustments since they sold out in late December. The latest brings them up 3,644 to 860,000, which would seem like a natural stopping point. Collectors will have to wait until the July time frame for the 2011 Silver Proof Eagles to make their appearance, according to [...]
The (Changing) Rules Of The Game – Thursday Kitcommentary
An easing of the apprehension levels surrounding Portuguese in particular and European debt in general, prompted a reversal of yesterday's gains in gold (and to a lesser extent the other precious metals) overnight and early this morning. Spain, too, just this morning, (as projected) did better with its bond auctions than had been feared by some.
Spot bullion prices drifted lower ahead of the New York opening on Thursday, touching lows near $1,376.00 per ounce, despite a slippage in the US dollar (down 0.28 on the trade-weighted index, at 79.80) and stagnating (but still quite high) crude oil prices at near $92 per barrel [...]
Gold Prices Rise Late, Silver Ends Slightly Higher
U.S. gold prices settled $1.50 higher Wednesday after spending most of the day in the red as jitters over European debt issues eased. Reports indicate a falling dollar and rising oil prices helped support the yellow metal.
February gold prices rose 0.1 percent, to settle at $1,385.80 an ounce on the Comex in New York, marking a third straight day of [...]

Hu’s On First? – Wednesday Kitcommentary
Gold prices remained hesitant to stage significant advances this morning, despite a weaker US dollar (down 0.29 to 80.52 on the index) and gains in the other precious metals and crude oil.
Were it not for lingering physical selling in the market, the yellow metal might have opened some $5 higher than where it did for this, the midweek session.
Spot gold recorded a $0.60 per ounce gain at the start of Wednesday's trading action and it was quoted at $1,381.90 on the bid side, at that time. The choppiness and [...]
