Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio will present an exceptional selection of more than 2,700 lots of Chinese and East Asian coins and banknotes at The Mira Hong Kong, August 22-24, 2011, HKT.

The three-day auction event will spotlight a multitude of collections and highlights including:

  • The Chin Family Collection,
  • The H.T. Nance Collection,
  • The Frank Robinson Collection, and the
  • Wa She Wong Collection, Part II.

Interested bidders are invited to join the live auction at The Mira in Kowloon, Hong Kong, or to bid online at www.stacksbowers.com.

The August auction comes as a follow-up to the highly successful Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio Hong Kong Auction of December 2010 that introduced the popular Wa She Wong Collection and realized a stunning total in excess of USD$10.7 million.

"The demand for Chinese and Asian rare coins and paper money is incredible as we saw in December and we are very happy to present three very full days of auction action this month," said Rick Ponterio, executive vice president. "This is a very important auction of Asian numismatics, well represented in virtually every area of collecting, and we are looking forward to welcoming bidders from around the world."

The auction is highlighted by a variety of standout collections. The Chin Family Collection features mainly crown-sized gold and silver coins of China in exceptionally high quality, including many rarities. The Frank S. Robinson Collection consists of 19th and 20th century Chinese coins, of which many are pedigreed back to the famed Woodward Collection.

Also of note is The H.T. Nance Collection of French Indo-China coinage, and Part II of the famed Wa She Wong Collection featuring Chinese coins. There are also exceptional runs of coins from Annam, Korea, and other Asian countries, as well as more than 350 lots of Chinese and other East Asian banknotes.
