The opportunity to purchase a Yosemite National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin is now extremely limited. The United States Mint has indicated that the allotted coin’s 27,000 mintage is spoken for, and that any new orders placed will go immediately to a waiting list. That means new orders will be fulfilled only if one of the original 27,000 orders is cancelled.
Collectors wanting a chance on the waiting list can visit the Mint’s website at http://catalog.usmint.gov/ or by calling its customer service number at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
The Yosemite National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin went on sale June 9. Buyers snapped up 20,511 during the first four days, showing demand for the five-ouncers waned little following the sell outs of the first two strikes in the series, the Hot Springs National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin and the Yellowstone National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin.
Collectors will now look toward the next two issues from the Mint’s America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin program. The bureau has already scheduled their launch dates.
Grand Canyon and Mount Hood 5 Oz Release Schedule
Scheduled next for release is the Grand Canyon National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. The United States Mint has said it will release the collectible piece on June 29, 2011, for the same $279.95 price as the first three coins. The mintage remains the same as well, at 27,000 units.
The Grand Canyon coin honors the national park located in the state of Arizona. The coin’s design, by Phebe Hemphill, depicts the granaries above the Nankoweap Delta in Marble Canyon which is near the Colorado River. Inscriptions include GRAND CANYON, ARIZONA, 2010 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
The United States Mint has scheduled the Mount Hood National Forest Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin release for July 28, 2011. It has the same limited 27,000 mintage and is expected to launch for a price of $279.95.
As with all its products containing precious metals, however, the Mint says its "pricing is subject to change."
The Mount Hood coin honors the national forest located in the state of Oregon. Also designed by Phebe Hemphill, the coin showcases a scene of Mount Hood and Lost Lake. Inscriptions include MOUNT HOOD, OREGON, 2010 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
The 2011-dated America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins are also expected out this year. The United States Mint has not scheduled their release as of this writing.
