Gold Advances 4.4% in 11th Quarterly Gain, Silver Plunges 8.1% in...
U.S. gold futures prices edged lower Thursday after rising during the previous two sessions. The yellow metal ended down in June but maintained enough momentum in the previous two months to register its 11th straight quarterly gain. Other precious metals ended lower in the second quarter.

The 2011 Proof American Silver Eagle debuted today from the United States Mint. The coin became available beginning at 12 Noon ET. A price of $59.95 has been attached to each, plus the standard handling charge of $4.95 per order.

U.S. gold and silver futures rose for a second straight day Wednesday as a weaker U.S. dollar, sharply higher crude oil prices and bargain-hunting pushed up precious metals prices.

United States Mint sales of the 2011 September 11 National Medals have topped $2.9 million since their release on June 20, 2011.
