Baldwin’s London Auction Features Rare King George VI Gold Four-Coin Proof...
Offered in its original Royal Mint case, a set of four 1937 Gold, Matt Proof finish coins, commissioned to commemorate the Coronation of King George VI, are sure to be the highlight of the Baldwin's London auction, due to be held in May 2011.

U.S. gold and silver prices were little changed Monday as gold climbed 0.2 percent and silver dipped 0.3 percent.

US Mint circulating coin production levels in February 2011 retreated significantly from those of the previous month, but they were substantially higher than totals from February 2010.

Gold continued to receive some additional safe-haven oriented bids and climbed $6.80 out of the market's starting gate in New York (the initial quote was $1,426.40 for spot bid prices). Silver added only 3 pennies to Friday's closing values however, to open at $35.93 per ounce.
Unsurprisingly, platinum and palladium suffered some declines in value as news of Japanese auto plant closures continued to unnerve speculators in that niche. U.S. gold prices rebounded from earlier weakness and settled up 0.7 percent on Friday -- its biggest increase this week. The advance was not enough to overcome losses on Thursday, however, as the metal fell a modest 0.5 percent on the week.

Gold Pares Loss, Silver Prices Plunge
U.S. gold prices pared losses Thursday after news broke of protests in Saudi Arabia.
The metal still fell 1.2 percent on the day, but its decline was mild compared to the 2.7 percent plunge in silver prices.
