I got a $2 note with serial # 20110911 (Sept 11, 2011), and 20110228 (Feb 28,2011), are they worth anything ?

Where do all the notes in MM/DD/YYYY format end up? One time, I saw a $1 bill with the “date” 06071944, the day after D-day and I saw a dealer advertising a $10 (new style, pre-color) note with 09112001 as its serial no. I know it’s not a lot of notes out of the hundreds of millions produced but random chance should’ve produced more than one over the ten years I’ve been looking. Who has them? Who sells them? I would love to have any bill with my birthdate on it.

How many 2003-A $2 bills did the BEP make? The note pictured is from J-D, or are they just making a tiny run of specially numbered notes for collectors taking that much more joy out of collecting for me. The BEP (and the US Mint for that matter) should not be making novelties or “collectors’ items”. Just make what the marketplace requires and what survives, survives.

Urggghhh! They’re not REALLY from a 2011 series, their serial numbers just start with those digits! Doesn’t this come under the topic of misleading (or even false) promotion?

Instead of playing games, the Treasury needs to start regular and full production of the denomination to reduce the ridiculous number of $1 bills needed every year. It makes no sense for ~45% of the BEP’s output to be a single denomination of bills that only last a year or two in circulation before wearing out. I know that Crane Paper and its corps of lobbyists will be in high dudgeon over anything that’ll touch their monopoly, but the cost savings should be able to provide a good number of their employees with a very comfortable retirement.
