ANAANA Life Member Gary Adkins is the 2010 recipient of the American Numismatic Association’s Harry J. Forman Dealer of the Year award. Adkins received his award Aug. 10 at the ANA World’s Fair of Money kickoff cruise in Boston.

The annual award is presented to an ANA-member dealer who shows uncommon dedication to strengthening the hobby and the Association, and displays exemplary ethical standards as a dealer.

The award is named in honor of the late Harry J. Forman, a Philadelphia coin dealer, author and ANA life member.

The owner of Gary Adkins Associates in Minneapolis, Adkins has been a professional numismatist for more than 45 years and is the immediate past president of the Professional Numismatists Guild.

He recently was elected chairman of the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, a national trade association for those with an interest in precious metals, rare coins, U.S. and world currency, and other numismatic and tangible assets. Adkins received an ANA Presidential Award in 2009.

"Gary is the epitome of professionalism," said ANA Executive Director Larry Shepherd. "He commands the respect of dealers and collectors alike. As the Harry J. Forman Dealer of the Year, Gary embodies the ideals and ethics of the numismatic community."
