That sounds strange, Michael.
Maybe the fact that you had multiple items on the order got things confused. For a while, the Mint's ordering system allowed buyers to enter a quantity larger than one in the order box, for the Lincoln Chronicles set. They then had to cancel the orders of those who tried to order more than one set of those coins.

To Garry and other LUCKY people....
You are one of the LUCKY ones to get your set. I ordered my set on 10.20.09 also a week before as you, Garry. I also ordered two other items with this order.
There was NO mention of 'back-order' or 'out of stock' when I ordered. When checking on my status it stated delivery date be 10.30.09. I never received anything from the Mint on this order....The entire order was CANCELLED with NO notification from the mint!....neither by phone NOR email.
I am in good standing with the mint and there was plenty of money on the credit card I supplied....per their requirements! There was no indication of any shortage or problems when ordering especially with a ship date on my order.
The Mint posted a 50,000 issue quantity....with one per person. I checked on Ebay and the prices are almost triple NOW for 'Buy It Now'. And 'good luck' bidding to get a cheaper price. Amazing how the same sellers have MORE than one set!...and I'm talking a lot! Why do dealers get special treatment especially on limited sets? This causes someone like myself to lose out even though my set was 'reserved'. This results in the first come, first serve policy to be unfair regarding one per person.
This is not the first time nor the last that the Mint has undercut the issue quantity....and NOT the first time I lost out on an item. The Mint has ALL records of purchases of popular 'limited' coins, yet they still make ridiculous low minted quantities. I am not saying they should make 200,000 sets. I am just stating that if they 'want to be fair', then the mint should produce enough for their loyal followers.
I am NOT ignoring the fact that the coins are worth more with LOW limited quantities. I am just angered that my order was accepted, reserved and given a ship date. I should have been told upfront that I had NO chance of getting a set. [Not to mention, why cancel my ENTIRE order?]
Thank you everyone for reading.... I just needed to vent. I know we all miss out on a limited item. This set just happened to be one of my favorites that I really wanted to acquire.

The Lincoln Coin & Chronicle Set was an exciting day for coin collectors. The fact that processing was slow was to be expected.
Those collectors fortunate to purchase the set will find that their tolerance and persistance during this special event was well worth the effort. The set will remain an important part of their collection.
