What a sad commentary for the US Mint to cancel the American Eagle silver Proof after 23 years of production. If they had limited it to one to a customer they might have only needed a production of 200,000 or so. They’re rolling out 22 million of the bullion coin, but screw the true collector. Folks the silver is available at a higher price than spot and our legislation doesn’t even require that the silver be produced in this country like it does for the bullion coin. What a truly sad day for coin collectors and what a cowardly act and chickens ways out for the US Mint.

Oh great the Mint might have 2010 silver proof eagles next year. I guess I should buy two so I can use one to plug the hole for the 2009 that they worked so “diligently” to produce but weren’t able to.

Diligenty working with suppliers for 2010, yeh if y0u believe that I’ll sell you some of the 2009 silver proof eagles I bought from the mint this year that they worked so hard to produce for collectors to keep the 24th year of production alive!
