As a fledgling architect, "Wally" Henderson designed the restoration of the Old State Capitol in the 1960s, when skeptics said it couldn’t be done. Now, 40 years later, Henderson has triumphed again. Thanks to him, the building he saved will appear on millions of commemorative pennies due to be issued next year.

Get Government Out of Coin Manufacture

New NGC Holder Enters Next Phase of Release

The next generation of the NGC coin holder, featuring enhanced security features, is scheduled for wide-scale release beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Since late-August, this holder has been used for selected World coin and Walkthrough submissions. Following its very successful month-long initial release, the new holder exterior will now be used for all submissions.

May this celebration be the U.S. penny’s last

Just in time to coincide with our economic crisis, the U.S. Mint last week unveiled four new designs for the penny, the first changes to the 1-cent coin in 50 years. Congress might as well vote to uphold our eternal commitment to the U.S. Standard Measurement system while we’re at it. (You know, "feet," "inches" etc.) … But we digress.
