Richmond First Day $2 Single Notes for Collectors on Sale

2008 Richmond First Day $2 Single NotesThe Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has announced the sale of 2008 $2 Richmond notes will begin today, July 30, at 7:30 A.M. EDT.

The Cleveland and Philadelphia $2 notes have been passed over, having been placed in a delay mode in May and June so the BEP could complete "system maintenance improvements."

Although these two notes are still not available, the Richmond banknote is with an exception. Online orders are not yet fully automated, like they were in the past.

Customers are directed to download a PDF order form, complete the purchase information, and then e-mail (moneyfactory.sales@bep.treas.gov) or fax (1-888-891-7585) the order to the BEP.

Orders may also be placed via their toll free number 1-800-456-3408.

The Atlanta $2 single notes were first off printing presses in January followed by the New York $2 notes in February, the San Francisco $2 notes in March, the Chicago $2 notes in April and the Dallas $2 notes in May.

Each of these $2 bills were sold out within hours, and there is no indication that Richmond notes are any less popular. It is likely wise to place an order as soon as possible.

The Richmond collector’s $2 single note features:

In addition to the above specifications, and like all the $2 note collector notes, each is:

  • Limited in quantity to 10,000
  • Protected by a clear, acid-free polymer sleeve
  • Housed within a 2008 commemorative folder

The price for one Richmond note is $7.95. There is a household limit of 25 units in place. And with that, the BEP has a strongly worded statement saying,

Any customer who place orders above the quantity restriction (25 units) for this product is subject to having their entire order rejected.

The product information and order page is located at 2008 $2 Single Note (Richmond).
