2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof SetThe United States Mint today at noon Eastern Time released the 2010 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™ for $32.95.

The offering is the first to include America the Beautiful Quarters that are struck in 90 percent silver, which is a reason the set is priced substantially higher than the clad quarters version that launched on May 13, 2010 for $14.95.

In fact, the silver set’s five proof coins are composed of 0.904 ounces of silver. At the current silver spot of $18.47 an ounce, their intrinsic value alone is presently worth $16.70.

The United States Mint on Thursday afternoon officially announced that the 2010 US Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set will launch on May 27 at noon Eastern Time (ET) for a price of $32.95.

The set is the second of the year to feature the first five America the Beautiful Quarters™. The first was the clad 2010 proof version issued on May 13, 2010, for a price of $14.95. The debuting sales figures for these were released by the Mint on Wednesday.

America the Beautiful Quarters Proof SetThe debuting sales figures for the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set have just been released by the United States Mint, and they are stronger than the opening sales from the prior issue.

The first set to contain America the Beautiful Quarters went on sale Thursday, May 13, 2010. By Sunday, 75,558 were scooped up by coin collectors and other enthusiasts.

As a comparison of some measure, the still available 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Proof Set launched on an earlier Monday (January 5, 2009). Their opening sales figures through to the following Sunday was 78,015, which is only 2,457 more despite the included 3 extra days.

The United States Mint on Thursday issued a press statement officially announcing a Thursday, May 13, release date for the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set.

America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set

The set includes the first proof quarters that will be issued this year and the first from the America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program which celebrates national parks and national sites with rotating quarter-dollar reverse designs.

The new clad set has not gone up in price, despite the fact that it includes one less quarter than the 2009 version. At noon Eastern Time on the 13th, collectors can order the 2010 proof set for $14.95, plus the standard $4.95 shipping and handling charge.
