Free Encyclopedia of Coins Encourages Editing Like Wikipedia
Newport Beach, Calif. – Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), a division of Collectors Universe (NASDAQ: CLCT), announced today the introduction of the CoinFacts Wiki, a public encyclopedia of U.S. and World coins located at www.CoinFactsWiki.com.
The "wiki" concept allows users to create and edit virtually all pages on the website, subject to oversight by system administrators. This capability allows large volumes of up-to-date information and images to be added to the website in a short period of time, creating a massive database of information that is useful to buyers, sellers, researchers and anyone else interested in numismatics.
The CoinFacts Wiki uses the familiar look, feel and format of Wikipedia, the renowned free online encyclopedia used by millions. The rules for use are also similar. The site will be monitored, but coin enthusiasts are free to edit and add to articles at any time. The site also includes a comprehensive list of FAQs to help the user get started.
The CoinFacts Wiki allows data entry for all U.S. and World coins, including everything from generic type coins to individual die varieties.

(Santa Ana, California) – A hoard of Indian Head $5 gold pieces found in an unclaimed bank safe deposit box in Florida has been certified by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Nearly half of the 262 coins graded mint state, including dozens of rare date 1911-S and 1916-S Half Eagles.

"This is an incredible discovery. They came completely out of the woodwork," said Lexington, Kentucky and Sarasota, Florida dealer, Jeff Garrett, who jointly purchased the coins with dealer Marc Earle of Saint Petersburg, Florida from a government sale of unclaimed items. They then sold all of them to Bill Gale of New York Mint in Edina, Minnesota.
"This is one of the more unusual hoards I’ve seen in my career," stated PCGS Founder, David Hall. "There was a group of 1910-D $5 Indians that appeared in the 1970s, but that was over 30 years ago. This is the only large group of mint state San Francisco Mint $5 Indians I’ve ever heard of. By far, the S-mint issue are the rarest $5 Indians to find in mint state."
