World class collections are the name of the game at Heritage Auction Galleries March 25-28 Signature® ANA U.S. Coin Auction, part of the week-long happenings at the ANA National Money Show in Fort Worth, just down the highway a spell from Heritage headquarters in Dallas.
Highlights include commemorative gold, cents large and small, and quarter eagles.
"As always, it’s an honor to present the official auction," said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage Auction Galleries. "Our track record of successful events speaks for itself and is a sign of trust from both the ANA and our consignors. This auction will add to that legacy."
The most impressive grouping of the auction is the commemorative gold, which features no less than seven 1915-S Panama-Pacific fifty dollar gold coins, three round and four octagonal.

DALLAS, TX — A 1943-S Cent Struck on a Bronze Planchet, VF35 PCGS, an amazing 20th Century Branch Mint error rarity, proved itself once again as one of the most sought after error coins in U.S. numismatics when it soared to an impressive $207,500 tally as part of Heritage Auctions Feb. 4-7 Long Beach, CA Signature® U.S. Coin Auction.

All told the Heritage Long Beach event realized $8.76 million as almost 4,000 bidders competed for the rarities in this focused offering. All prices include 15% Buyer’s Premium.
"By certain standards this was indeed a small auction, but we’re thrilled with the prices," said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage Auction Galleries. "The market is definitely on the rise. We saw 91.2% of lots sold by value, and 93.7% sold by number of lots. Those are good numbers."

An awed hush fell over the Platinum Night bidding floor of Heritage Auctions’ Orlando FL FUN U.S. Coin Auction on Thursday, Jan. 7, as "The Olsen Specimen" 1913 Liberty Nickel, PR 64 NGC, lived up to its billing as the most famous American coin by bringing a jaw-dropping $3,737,500. This figure is tied for the third-largest sum ever paid at auction for a single U.S. coin.

With the 1913 nickel, Heritage sold three $1 million+ U.S. coins in the auction, only the third time this has ever been done in a single event, all by Heritage, and this auction is the first time that all three coins hammered above the $1,000,000 mark.
The most famous of the five known Liberty Nickels was the principal highlight in Heritage’s $36.5 million+ U.S. Coin Auction, which itself is the principal component of Heritage’s $53 million January 2010 numismatic auctions, collectively composed of U.S. Coins and Currency at Orlando FUN and the NYINC World Coins Auction, which realized $11 million+ over the first weekend of the new year.
