"I invite all Canadians to look for this commemorative coin in their change," said Ian E. Bennett, the Mint’s President and CEO.

"Six million of these coins will be put into circulation to be exchanged daily not only by Quebecers, but by Canadians throughout the country.

This coin is a striking way to pay tribute to Quebec City’s heritage, and to its significance in Canadian history.

The Royal Canadian Mint is pleased to join Quebec City’s citizens and admirers in celebrating the 400th anniversary of this famous city."

Royal Canadian Mint to Unveil City of Quebec 400th Anniversary Coin, Invites Public

The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has announced they will unveil and issue $2 circulating coins Wednesday to honour the 400th anniversary of the City of Quebec’s founding.

City of Quebec 400th Anniversary of the Silver Dollar Commemorative Coin

The public is invited to participate in the ceremonial event and presentation of the coins on Wednesday, May 7. The public may also exchange old coins for the new $2 commemorative coin honouring the city.

The Royal Canadian Mint’s Newest Commemorative Circulation Coin Celebrates the 400th Anniversary of Quebec City and Features the Work of Talented Quebec Artist

Ottawa, Ontario. – As part of its ongoing activities to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City, the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) is pleased to announce the commissioning of a commemorative 2-dollar circulation coin. Designed by Quebec jeweller Geneviève Bertrand, the coin will be officially unveiled this May at a ceremony in Quebec City. A total of six million of these commemorative coins, dated 2008, will be struck.

400th Anniversary Santa Fe Gold and Silver Coins Introduced

400th anniversary of Santa Fe Gold and Silver coins proposedNew Mexico lawmakers introduced new legislation that would create coins commemorating the 400th anniversary of Santa Fe.

Santa Fe, New Mexico, the site of native occupation centuries before European incursions, was officially elevated from a plaza established in 1608 to a villa and capital city in 1610. It’s also the home to the oldest and continuously inhabited indigenous communities in North America.

Two bills were concurrently introduced into the House and Senate and each has been referred to committee. If a reconciled bill passes and is signed into law, a commemorative $5 gold piece and a $1 silver dollar would be minted for coin collectors in 2010.
