in 2019 National Park Coins

The War in the Pacific National Historical Park Silver Uncirculated Coin will be released by the US Mint as the forty-eight strike of the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin™ Program. Shown on the reverse of the five ounce .999 fine silver uncirculated coin will be a design emblematic of the War in the Pacific National Historical Park found in the United States territory of Guam. A release date for the coin was not known at the time of this posting.

Coins in this series were authorized by the Treasury Secretary under the power granted that position in 31 U.S.C. §5111(a) (3). In that law, the Secretary is given the discretion to produce and sell items of numismatic interest.

The silver uncirculated coins are actually considered the numismatic versions of a series of bullion strikes known as the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin™ Program. Both programs feature coins struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver to a diameter of three inches showcasing reverse designs emblematic of sites of national interest from around the United States and its territories.

Shown on the reverse of this specific coin will be a design including a portion of the national historical park. That design will also include the inscriptions of WAR IN THE PACIFIC, GUAM, 2019 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

The obverse will include a portrait of George Washington which is being featured on the obverse of all of the America the Beautiful related coins. The portrait will be surrounded by the inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR.

War in the Pacific National Historical Park of Guam

The War in the Pacific National Historical Park was founded by the United States Congress on August 18, 1978. It is located on the island of Guam, a territory of the United States.

This park is unique among other war related historical parks in that it honors all who participated in the Pacific Theater of World War II. This not only includes the Allied forces like the United States, Australia and Great Britain, but also includes members of the armed forces of Japan.
