Four 2012 Presidential $1 Coins

Ending mintages for 2012 are available with the United States Mint already striking coins for 2013. The bureau has officially closed out production figures by design for each of the four 2012 Presidential $1 Coins.

Since they were not struck for commerce, mintages for the 2012 Presidential $1 Coins are sharply lower from past years. It was huge news at the time — late 2011 — when the U.S. Treasury Secretary stopped dollar coin production for circulation and authorized the U.S. Mint to make them only for collectors. The production decline jumps out when looking at the overall dollar mintages by year:

  • 2007 is 940,870,000
  • 2008 is 464,480,000
  • 2009 is 352,100,000
  • 2010 is 321,440,000
  • 2011 is 297,360,000
  • 2012 is 44,040,001

Adding the numbers, the total mintage figure for circulating-quality Presidential $1 Coins from 2007 to 2012 is 2,420,290,001. Broken out by the two U.S. Mint facilities responsible for manufacturing them — the Denver Mint and Philadelphia Mint, the totals are:

  • Denver at 1,198,570,000
  • Philadelphia at 1,221,720,001

The following grid offers the latest U.S. Mint published mintage figures for Presidential dollars released from 2007 through to 2012.
