2013 Girl Scouts Commemorative Coin

When the United States Mint last December published its preliminary product schedule for this year, prices for some products like the 2013 commemorative coins were missing.

Available now are introductory and regular commemorative coin prices for this year’s 2013 5-Star Generals coins in silver and clad and the 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollars.

In total, there are eight coins the U.S. Mint will release this year for commemorative purposes as mandated by Acts passed in Congress and signed into law by the President of the United States. These laws include Public Law 111-262 for the 5-Star Generals Commemorative Coins and Public Law 111-86 for the 2013 Girl Scouts Silver Dollars.

Prices for the two gold 5-Star Generals coins will not get set until the Wednesday before their release, and they will depend upon the prevailing market value of gold at the time. (See this Mint PDF pricing guide for how gold commemorative coin prices are decided.)

Introductory and regular prices for the silver and clad commemorative coins follow.

List of 2013 Commemorative Coin Prices

Prices for the silver dollars mark a $5 increase over last year’s coins. The clad coins are $1 higher from 2011 (no clad commemoratives were issued in 2012).

Prices Include Surcharges

Keep in mind that all of the commemorative coin prices include surcharges, as mandated by law. Each silver coin sold has a $10 surcharge and each clad coin sold has a $5 surcharge. The gold coins have a $35 surcharge.

Surcharges for the 5-Star Generals coins go to the United States Army Command and General Staff College CGSC Foundation to help finance its activities in support of the college.

Surcharges for the 2013 Proof Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollars go to Girl Scouts of the USA for Girl Scout program development and delivery.
