2012 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set

Pricing for the 2012 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set has been published two days before the United States Mint has it scheduled for release on September 6, 2012 at noon ET.

According to a Federal Register notice that will become public tomorrow and was dated August 28, 2012, the set will have a price of $54.95.

The last time the set was available, in 2008, its price was just $37.95. But then silver was much lower too, and the set includes five dollar coins plus an American Silver Eagle, which has one ounce of 99.9% fine silver. An ounce of silver today on the London Fix was $32.08.

Specifically, the 2012 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set includes:

  • Four 2012-P Presidential $1 Coins from the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia,
  • One 2012-D Native American Dollar from the U.S. Mint at Denver, and
  • One 2012-W American Eagle Silver from the U.S. Mint at West Point.

These dollars are all in uncirculated quality, as the name of the U.S. Mint product implies.

Reverse designs on the four 2012-P Presidential $1 coins feature Chester Arthur, Grover Cleveland (first and second terms) and Benjamin Harrison. Obverses showcase a rendition of the Statue of Liberty.

Designs on the 2012-D Native American Dollar show an image of Sacagawea on the obverse and a reverse of a Native American and horse in profile with horses running in the background.

Unchanged since first produced in 1986, the obverse of the 2012-W American Silver Eagle has Weinman’s "Walking Liberty" design and a reverse depicting the heraldic eagle with shield.

When released, collectors can purchase the 2012 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set directly from the United States Mint website at http://www.usmint.gov/, or by calling 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
