Baldwins 48th Hong Kong Coin Auction Features Asian Coins and Banknotes

The 48th Hong Kong Coin Auction is taking place a little earlier than usual this year, in-line with the Hong Kong International Coin Convention and Antique Watch Fair.

As usual the sale will be held at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile, Kowloon, Hong Kong, at 10:00 AM on the 25th February, and will feature two sessions (868 lots in total) of predominantly Asian coins and banknotes.

The auction opens with lot 1, a Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) 1-Kuan banknote. The Baldwin’s — Ma Tak Wo auction group sold a similar piece in their last sale for a record breaking US$19,000 and, although this note isn’t in as good condition, they are hopeful that this piece will attract as much attention. MSNS Spring 2010 Convention Features Counterfeit Detection Seminar

ANAThe one-day seminar, "Introduction to Counterfeit Detection of United States Coins," will be offered April 22 at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn in Dearborn, Mich.

The seminar is presented through the ANA’s Florence Schook School of Numismatics, and is in conjunction with the Michigan State Numismatic Society’s Spring Convention, April 23-25.

The first has as its theme ski jumping. One sees the helmeted ski-jumper captured in his flight from the end of the steep ramp against a background of trees in an alpine forest. ACCG Board Election Nominations Close Feb 15

Ancient Coin Collectors Guild LogoThe seven-member ACCG Board of Directors is elected by the general membership every two years.

The Director term is a four year position, with three board members being elected on one cycle and four members being elected on the alternate cycle two years later.

In 2010, three positions on the board expire. Incumbents in these positions are Peter K. Tompa, Bill Puetz and Dave Welsh.

Royal Australian Mint Launches Australia Day 2010 Coins

In the lead-up to Australia Day, the Assistant Treasurer, Senator Nick Sherry, announced the design of the newest coin to go into the hands of Australians.

Commemorating and celebrating Australia Day and designed by the Royal Australian Mint in consultation with the National Australia Day Council, this 50 cent coin marks the spirit of this significant national celebration and will soon be available around the country.
