Internet coin auction company, GreatCollections, sold over $828,000 in certified coins during August 2011, setting numerous company records with almost 2,000 coin auctions sold.
One of the many highlights of the month was the Anacapa Collection of U.S. gold coins, which realized $202,178 with a sell-through rate of 96%. This collection included several U.S. rarities, notably the 1866-S Liberty Eagle No Motto NGC AU-55 and 1907 Saint-Gaudens High Relief NGC MS-64 [...]

GreatCollections is proud to auction a collection of U.S. gold coins called the Anacapa Collection.
"These coins will be offered as part of our Sunday, August 21 auction program, which will feature over 1,000 certified coins ranging in value from $20 to over $20,000,"said Ian Russell, president of GreatCollections.

GreatCollections successfully auctioned the 1842-O $10 Liberty Eagle PCGS MS-60 CAC, after spirited online bidding took the final winning bid to $57,970.
The winning bidder was a private East Coast collector, who has a history of buying premium quality U.S. rarities with pedigree information.
The consignor inherited the coin from a family member who purchased it in the 1960s for $225 from Woodward and Lathrop, a Washington, D.C. department store [...]
