Deciding to put ‘Christ’ back into Christmas, over 4 years ago, I abandoned a Christmas tree for an entire new adaptation…Across the hearth of my large fireplace, I affixed all the wise men, traveling to the far corner, where I had a constructed a ‘Stable’, sized to hold the Wal-Mart ‘Nativity Set’, to include…Joseph, Mary and Jesus(lying in a manger). Surrounding this were the ‘extra’ pieces I purchasd … cow, sheep, etc.
Now…WHAT to give to my family members, in keeping w/theme? I quickly dropped into my favorte liquor store, where I purchased many blue velvet draw-string bags, with gold cording. Perfect ! Then I had an old wooden very small chest, which I padded, placing the gold Sacagawea Dollar Coins atop. Surrounding this were MORE then a dozen little deep blue velvet bags of more then ten Sacagawea Dollars in each one ! When my family came, I told them …”This year we give Christmas back to ‘Christ’. You may each save these or spend them, but, be very careful, as one day they could become very valuable”!!
I wonder if any of my family were smart enough to save them, and if not, I bet they are wishing they would have !!! True Story…Sincerely Said, ………Elizabeth Houck
