The label that Miller will sign features an image of his The Morgan and Peace Dollar Textbook, first published in 1983. Miller also wrote An Analysis of Morgan and Peace Dollars, first published in 1976.

Collectors have relied on insights from Miller’s comprehensive books for decades. His expertise and passion for the coins also resulted in a personal collection of Morgan and Peace Dollars that was widely regarded as the finest of its kind. Assembled over 16 years beginning in the late 1960s, it included every business strike in the Morgan and Peace Dollar series, plus every known Proof from all the US Mint branches. And every coin was in exceptional condition.

Most of the coin photos in Miller’s first book were taken of coins in his collection, which was sold in 1986 for a then-record $1.2 million. The longtime resident of Helena, Montana, used half of the sale proceeds to open a homeless shelter.

The expert numismatist and dealer continues to run Wayne Miller Coins in Helena with his son. The business also buys and sells coins online.

He says he is proud to participate in the NGC Signature Labels program.

"Morgan and Peace Dollars are big, beautiful and historically significant," he said. "They instantly captured my attention and led to a lifetime of collecting, dealing and researching. I am very proud to work with NGC to help introduce the next generations of collectors to these impressive coins."

NGC Chairman and Grading Finalizer Mark Salzberg said the company is excited to collaborate with Miller.

"Wayne Miller is the ‘King of Silver Dollars,’" Salzberg said. "He was a true visionary and recognized the rarity and value of Prooflike and Deep Prooflike silver dollars long before anyone else. His textbook was invaluable to me at the very beginning of my career, guiding me to silver dollars, especially PL and DPL ones. It is an honor to be able to work with him."

The diverse roster of people who have signed NGC labels includes astronaut Charlie Duke; former US Mint Director Edmund C. Moy; Randy’L Teton, the woman who served as the model for the Sacagawea Dollar; and a host of coin engravers, designers and innovators.

NGC Signature Labels pair an influential person with a coin to create a one-of-a-kind collectible. To learn more about NGC Signature Labels, visit NGCcoin.com/SignatureLabels.

But he’s not doing the grading. He’s just signing some slips. So?

Steve

Just another option for dealers only!
It seems that it’s all about the labels and no
longer about the coin. I don’t see anything
wrong with the original brown label. I send
coins to NGC to have a grade assigned.
