The highlight from the U.S. Mint’s latest weekly sales report is the first appearance of the new 2019 Native American $1 Coin and Currency Set. (See more set photos.)
Released last Wednesday, July 24, the space-themed set with its enhanced uncirculated Native American $1 Coin and uncirculated $1 note registered sales of 21,761 in the first day when orders were restricted to two sets per household.
Orders climbed by another 3,055 units through Sunday, lifting the set to a five-day total of 24,816 for 49.6% of the maximum 50,000. The set was the U.S. Mint’s best weekly seller.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 157 numismatic products. Fifty-one outperformed their prior weekly gains against 71 previously. Not counting the new Coin and Currency Set so as to compare apples to apples, 4 products increased by more than 1,000 units compared to 9 previously.
In addition, 2 products saw their sales reduced compared to 3 previously. Their reductions were modest.

Packaging Issues
I just received my two sets of the 2019 Native American coin and currency sets, and in both sets the paper dollar bills are not centered in the clear plastic lens. It is as if when they did the vacuum seal it pulled the paper dollar off center into the printed cardboard edging, I tried tapping the dollar and lens but the dollar will not move. Just checking to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem?
I also ordered two sets. One of them had the same issue you mentioned. I tried to center the dollar with no luck.
I don’t understand how anyone could have missed the quality issue before packaging and shipping them out. For a customer to receive such quality would either be the result of incompetence or a total lack of concern for peoples’ time and money.
I am truly sorry for your experience. You should consider ordering another set, before sending them back.
I have experienced several quality issues with USMint products before, and just hope I don’t experience that issue.
i agree, both of mine look awful, the mint done a terrible job with quality control.
I have the exact same issue. Already contacted the Mint and sending mine back for an exchange. Although now that I see others have the same issue, I’m afraid I’ll get another that’s exactly the same.
Tap a little bit harder. Had same issue and they all came back. Maybe I was just lucky
Received two. Both dollars not centered and appear to be creased or wrinkled. Good job mint! Will send back.
Same here – both sets I received had shifted bills and one had blemish on the coin. The Mint needs to ramp its QC program. Glad my collecting days will be over at the conclusion of the ATB program…
Received the 2 sets I ordered on first day of issue in mail today & both notes are way off center in the plastic. And one coin had 2 plastic capsule tops instead of a top & bottom & the coin fell out when I opened the folder! Bad quality control at the U.S. Mint on these sets for sure!!

Sending 2 sets back when I get the return labels. The lady on the phone said that the quality control team would look into the problem. She had no answer as to why there was not a quality control team checking the items before they were mailed – not after they were returned. Reverse quality control just does not work or make any sense! The MINT has a PROBLEM and needs to fix it!! ❓
Yep! Me to. Both my sets, bills hanging out & crumpled up! No way somebody did not see this when they packed this order for shipping. Called the Mint, they said must have happened during shipping. I call BS!
Received my set today, bill off-center. They must be hiring the blind to package the sets
U.S Mint has been on and off for years. Filled out one of there surveys they sent on line and the only l comment I had was better quality control, It’s really lacking. To much quantity and not enough quality. I have bought from mints in other countries and never had to return one item.
Yes Both sets dollar bill off center. Could not get them to center. Anyone have any luck? Seams to be problem with this 2019 Native Coin and Currency set
Got my 2 sets today, both had bills that were crooked and about 3/4″ off from center and no way to fix them. Properly centered bills are probably rare, replacements will most likely come and go with crooked bills until they are all sold out with only off centered sets left.
The Mint sure is taking its time sending me the return shipping label – is it just me??
Got 2 sets today, same problem. They are so far off center that the bill is covering half the width of the double sided sticky tape holding the cardboard together and the bill is stuck fast to it. This is not a shipping problem. It is fixable but you have to have patience. Starting on the worst edge-top or bottom- work a fingernail under the cardboard frame very slowly prying one side up off the foamy sticky tape holding them together. received my two today had to send one back. One third of bill was outside of holder and glued into the packaging. This is a major quality issue . The one good one is perfect.
40% rejection rate from the set that I received. Same issues as described, the Note is not in the sleeve, but has traveled to the adhesive portion and is not stuck. I’m waiting for UPS to email me a return shipping label. (Note US Mint will not send the label, but UPS supposedly is handling that for them)
Just received in the mail today, like everyone else off centered dollar bill. Tried to recenter but failed. Returning to US Mint, waiting for shipping label via email. Hoping all goes well. Four to six week delay but still available on their web page. Will see what happens.
From all the comments about the 2019 Coin & Currency Set I now kinda wish I didn’t order the set. It’s really getting out of hand and we don’t hear about all the bad sets that are returned but it sounds like a good amount are not up to our standards. I wonder what percentage of the sold sets were sent back and if it will have a big effect on the final sales numbers.
Received three sets. Two were fine but I need to tap the third a few times to get it centered.
Received mine Saturday…same issue with dollar bill and unable to center myself. Called mint today to send back and get exchanged (or at least repackaged if bill is not damaged) I’ve NEVER heard of such a quality control problem from US mint!

For me, it’s not just this issue where the USMint has delivered substandard products. Given the dynamics of the situation, I would suggest that quality issues are not unique this product alone. I’ve had to return both my 5 oz Apollo coins, and I’m currently in the process of returning the replacement coins that I received in exchange. This is in addition to two Pride of Two nations sets, as well as the two Coin and Currency sets. Way off center on my bill. Asked for a shipping return label, promised it, never received. Paid the postage to send it back with enclosed form for new one, so here’s hoping the next one is right. This is ridiculous. One of the proof coins I got was half out of the capsule, but fit back okay. Mass production without proper control is really sloppy.
