Uncirculated 2019-P War in the Pacific Five Ounce Silver Coins arrive encapsulated, set inside a protective outer box and include a U.S. Mint Certificate of Authenticity

Each of these large three inch coins is produced at the U.S. Mint’s facility in Philadelphia from five ounces of 99.9% fine silver. Featured on the reverse (tails side) is a design emblematic of the War in the Pacific National Historical Park located in the United States territory of Guam.

This is the 48th coin in the U.S. Mint’s series of America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins™. Each coin of the program honors a different site of national interest, the first of which launched in 2010. Designs for the series are taken from the associated quarters program, like the War in the Pacific quarter released on Monday.

Coin Designs and Specifications

Appearing on the new coin’s reverse is a scene showing American forces coming ashore at Asan Bay to strengthen troops already present on the island in the fight for Guam and its liberation.

The larger War in the Pacific 5-ounce silver coin features the same design, but in a vapor blast uncirculated finish. It also has a flat or smooth edge compared to the reeded edge found on quarters.

Inscriptions read "WAR IN THE PACIFIC," "GUAM," "2019," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The designer of record is artist Joel Iskowitz with sculpting by Sculptor-Engraver Michael Gaudioso.

Surrounding the portrait are the inscriptions of "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "QUARTER DOLLAR." A ‘P’ mintmark on the obverse signifies the coin’s production at the Philadelphia Mint.
