A CoinNews photo of 2017 $25 American Palladium Eagle Bullion Coins. The U.S. Mint will release a collector proof version on Sept. 6.

The United States Mint this week published release dates for products that are scheduled to launch this summer.

They include some highly-anticipated and brand new products like the 2018-S Reverse Proof Silver Proof Set, the 2018-W Proof American Palladium Eagle, and silver medals featuring former presidents.

Recognizing the 50th anniversary of regular silver proof sets from the San Francisco Mint, a reverse proof edition launches on July 23 for $54.95. Reverse proofs are opposite of standard proofs with mirror-like artwork and inscriptions that contrast against frosted backgrounds.

On Aug. 14, look for another proof American Silver Eagle — this one from the San Francisco Mint carrying an ‘S’ mint mark. This year’s regular version from the West Point Mint went on sale Jan. 4. (See photos of the coin.) Priced at $55.95, its sales so far are at 274,607. The ‘S’ proof Silver Eagle will also be $55.95.

Two days later, on Aug. 16, two 1-ounce .999 fine Presidential silver medals become available. As we wrote about earlier this year, they complement the already available Presidential medals in bronze. Their prices have yet to be announced.

Last year, the U.S. Mint introduced the bullion American Palladium Eagle. (See photos of the coin.) All 15,000 sold on their Sept. 25, 2017 release day. An edition in a collector proof finish will go on sale for the very first time on Sept. 6.

With the passing of June 6th, D-Day, does anybody think the mint will have a coin commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day next year?

Mike

Joe – With the Mint commemorating about anything now. I have just about quit acquiring new coin offerings. I started collecting over 50 years ago. Now since I am on a fixed income. I think I will stop buying, and just enjoy my collections. I like many of the Mint offerings, but the past several years, I have to say the numismatic field is sure not what it used to be. So sad, because not many young collectors are interested now. And in order to be able to begin collections now – You had better have some pretty deep pockets… Read more »

Hi, Mike. I hear you. Fortunately I have a grandson who is interested in coins, so what ever I buy or have will go to him. I have scaled back also and buy selectively.

Joe, likely TOO LATE, Congress would need to approve & it is not a PC offering a war you know… seriously wold have been a great coin as the last of the GREATEST Generation could have seen, bought, held one. They’ll be dead by 2044, heck many of us will…..funny we had a commem one year late for the start of US in WW1 & none for the end, what a f-up the mint did, PEACE Dollar proof for PEACE, 1921 Zabrinski Proof style Morgan & 1921 Peace set, nahh lets do a salute to birds or State Seashells……

200,000 max mintage for the reverse proof silver set. Thinking about picking that set up. Little disappointed in the price, but it should be a nice set.
