Restricted to a worldwide mintage of 1,000 pieces, the 99.9% silver coin is struck for Niue and is embellished with green malachite stone. The previous 2016-dated coin bears the same Tree of Luck design but is instead decorated with natural ambers. It sold out.

"According to an old Chinese legend, gold coins growing on the holy tree would fall to the ground like leaves," describes the Royal Canadian Mint. "In Feng Shui, the Tree of Luck is a well-known symbol of affluence, nobility, and prosperity."

The tree design takes center stage on the coin’s reverse and is shown without the encumbering inscriptions found on most coins.

Obverses offer the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of the Queen with surrounding inscriptions of QUEEN ELIZABETH II, NIUE ISLAND, 2017 and 1 DOLLAR.
