Year of the Rooster coins maintain their spotlight in November among numismatic products from the Perth Mint of Australia. They include silver high relief and gilded coins along with one depicting a baby rooster.
The Perth Mint also just released several non-lunar related products to include two large-format kangaroo coins, a three-coin high relief collection with kangaroo, koala and kookaburra silver coins; a lynx cub coin issued as part of the cubs series and a 2017 Australian Citizenship coin.
Brief information on these new November Perth Mint coins is offered below:
2017 Year of the Rooster Silver High Relief Coin
Available with a limited mintage of 7,500, the Perth Mint issues this high relief coin as part of its popular Australian Lunar Series II program. Seen on the reverse (tails side) is a design depicting a rooster, a hen and three chicks standing against bamboo foliage and flowers.
As with other high reliefs, this design is struck on a concave surface allowing for enhanced detail. The coin is composed of one ounce of 99.99% pure silver to a diameter of 32.60 mm and a thickness of 6.00 mm.
2017 Year of the Rooster Gilded Silver Coin
Similar to the just described high relief coin, this one features the same basic design of a rooster, a hen and three chicks. However, the rooster on this coin is gilded in 24-karat gold.
The mintage for this piece is 50,000 spread across all product options, which includes 47,500 issued in a presentation case with the rest available in a capsule only. The capsule option is intended for those wanting to complete the full 12-year Lunar Series II collection.
2017 Baby Rooster Silver Coin
Offering an alternative take on lunar coins, the Perth Mint offers this one-half ounce silver coin which features a colorized baby rooster with flowers in the background.
Maximum mintage for the collectible is 7,500 with 7,200 allotted for this particular option. The proof coin ships in a classic Perth Mint display case with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
2016 Kangaroo High Relief Gold and Silver Coins
Larger sized products for the month include a two-ounce high relief gold coin and a five-ounce high relief silver coin. Both contain the same reverse design of a kangaroo resting on its haunches with the silhouette of another kangaroo behind it.
The gold coin is composed of 99.99% pure gold with the silver coin having the same fineness of the white metal. Both ship in illustrated shippers with certificates of authenticity. Mintage for the gold piece is capped at only 250 with 1,000 of the silver available.
2016 Australian High Relief Silver Three-Coin Collection
High relief kangaroo, koala and kookaburra silver coins are issued together in this three-coin collection. Each one is composed of one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and appears in proof quality.
No more than 1,000 sets will be sold with individual coin mintages ranging from 10,000 for the koala and kookaburra to 20,000 of the kangaroo.
2016 Lynx Cubs 1/2 oz Silver Coin
This one-half ounce, 99.9% pure silver proof coin is the last of the five issues in the Perth’s Cubs series. The reverse shows a colorized design of two lynx cubs with a representation of the Canadian Rocky Mountains behind them.
Its mintage is set at 5,000. Each is struck a legal tender of Tuvalu.
2017 Australian Citizenship $1 Coin
Lastly, the Perth Mint is offering the latest annual edition of its Australian Citizenship $1 Coin, with this one for 2017. These aluminum bronze coins are struck to celebrate those taking the ‘Pledge of Commitment’ to become citizens of Australia.
The reverse depicts the Australian Commonwealth Coat of Arms. Each is attached to a colorful presentation card, which incorporates a certificate of authenticity and features a fold-out stand for upright display.
