This latest America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ is the fourth issued this year and the 34th overall in the series.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park quarters launched into circulation in late August near the time the U.S. Mint began selling rolls and bags of them in circulating quality. These are regular coins, although those in Mint rolls and bags have never circulated. Quarters within this new set, however, are specially produced in a higher quality and with different finishes, because they are intended for coin collectors. The three-coin set includes:

  • One uncirculated coin from the U.S. Mint facility in Denver with a ‘D’ mint mark
  • One uncirculated coin from the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia with a ‘P’ mint mark
  • One proof coin from the U.S. Mint facility in San Francisco with a ‘S’ mint mark

Each quarter’s mint mark is on the obverse or heads side, under the inscription IN GOD WE TRUST, which is on the right side of George Washington’s portrait.

The quarters in the three-coin set are also available in a combination of more expensive U.S. Mint products that include all the year’s quarters, like the 2016 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set ($14.95) and the 2016 America the Beautiful Quarters Uncirculated Set ($12.95). Above are some photos of an uncirculated 2016-D Theodore Roosevelt quarter from Denver, a proof 2016-S Theodore Roosevelt quarter from San Francisco and an uncirculated 2016-P Theodore Roosevelt quarter from Philadelphia.

Proof coins tend to have the most appeal with their frosted designs and mirror-like backgrounds. This photo shows a closer view of a proof Theodore Roosevelt National Park quarter. A proof quarter is in each set.

The Mint mounted the three quarters on a plastic card that has a scenic photo of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The card’s back provides some brief information about the park, the quarters designs, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Thanks for the updated information on these nice coin sets. They make a nice addition to a collection & are very affordable as great gifts too.
Your first paragraph says today is Oct. 2 instead of Oct. 3.
