Canadian 2016 Uncirculated Set Released

The Royal Canadian Mint is now selling its annually issued set with this year’s six denominations of coins produced in uncirculated finish.

Limited to 60,000 and priced at $24.95, the 2016 Uncirculated Set includes the toonie, loonie, 50-cent, 25-cent, 10-cent and 5-cent coins.

These coins feature reverse designs of a polar bear, a common loon, Canada’s Coat of Arms, a caribou, a Bluenose schooner, and a beaver. The following table shows the specifications of each coin.

As traditional, coin obverses offer Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

Ordering and Packaging

The 2016 Uncirculated Set may be ordered directly from the Royal Canadian Mint’s website of www.mint.ca or by visiting this affiliate linkicon.

Coins are sealed inside a transparent film and presented in a folded card that includes specifications of the six denominations and a certificate.

Christopher Williams – I purchased these sets last year & this year due to the lower mintage from previous years. They are cool as you mentioned. This article doesn’t state it, but they are serially numbered also. That makes them even more cool ! Just got my BEP $2 uncut sheet of 8 FRNs with fancy serail numbers starting with “8888” limited edition set yesterday & it is beautiful. You mentioned in an earlier post that you ordered one also. Christopher Williams – Did you get one of these sets with the packaging error that had a 2015-dated Loon $1 coin in it instead of the 2016-dated coin? I ordered 2 of these sets this year (I had 2 of last year’s sets also since they lowered the mintage to just 60,000 sets) with some other coins from RCM & noticed that one set has the 2015 Loon $1 coin in it!
