US Mint Mobile AppCollectors on the go who want to stay in touch with the United States Mint can now do so with a free mobile app for Android™, iPhone® and iPod touch®.

Earlier today, July 15, the U.S. Mint launched MyUSMint, its first mobile application for smartphones. The app allows easy access to educational information and collector products, including the ability to place and track orders, according to Lateefah Simms, public affairs specialist in the Mint’s Office of Corporate Communications.

"We’re constantly striving to find new ways to serve our customers and the American public," said Rhett Jeppson, Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Mint. "The new app comes on the heels of introducing a new order management system and reflects our commitment to be a world class organization."

The mobile app includes home screen customization options that, with a touch, can pull up the Mint’s gift suggestions, best sellers, product schedule, history, news and information on circulating coins.

The free mobile app is now available on Google Play™ and the App StoreSM. Additional information about the MyUSMint app is available from the Mint webpage located here.

Can you make purchases from this app, it does not say? I would assume so, but then again you would think this would be mentioned.

I downloaded and played around with a few minutes. Not the most intuitive app. Not sure if I like the “home page”. App is a little slow loading sections. Also wished they would have incorporated Touch ID (iPhone) so that we could log in faster. I did a test “buy”. Basically ordered the item and went to checkout but didn’t complete. The experience isn’t that much different from accessing the website on my phone. At this point I can’t say that the app offers anything more than using the website.
