These 99.9% pure silver coins are officially licensed and in collector proof finishes. Mintage for each is 5,000 while a special set holding both is limited to 1,500. Previous Star Trek two-coin sets sold out within hours of their release.

"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine debuted in 1993 and ran for seven seasons until 1999," the Perth Mint describes. "Set in the future in the Milky Way Galaxy, it follows the 23rd century adventures of Captain Benjamin Sisko during his seven year assignment as commander of the space station Deep Space 9 in the Bajor sector."

First issue Star Trek coins commemorated the original series, depicting Captain James T. Kirk and his starship, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. Those were followed by Next Generation coins featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.
