A new bullion product from the Perth Mint of Australia debuted this month with the release of the 2015 Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle Silver Bullion Coin. Each piece is composed of one ounce of 99.9% pure silver.

Featured on the coin’s reverse is the likeness of a Wedge-Tailed Eagle, Australia’s largest bird of prey and one of the biggest eagles in the world.

"Found throughout mainland Australia, Tasmania and southern New Guinea, the Wedge-Tailed Eagle has a wingspan of up to 2.7 metres, and displays a long, wedge-shaped tail and feathered legs," the Perth Mint describes. "This majestic bird is known to soar through the sky for hours on end, frequently reaching altitudes of up to 2,000 metres."

Designed by John M. Mercanti, the former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, reverses show the bird of prey as it prepares to land on a tree branch. Around the scene are inscriptions reading AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, 2015, the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mint mark, and 1oz 999 SILVER for the coin’s weight and purity.

Obverses offer Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 1 DOLLAR for the legal tender face value.

This bullion product ships worldwide with the Perth Mint offering volume pricing breaks for quantities of 20, 60, 100, 300 or 600 or more coins.
