Limited to just 1,500, struck in reverse proof finish, and composed of 99.99% pure gold, it marks the second of four coins from a series celebrating the numismatic effigies of Her Majesty.

This series was introduced last year with a gold coin featuring the Queen’s effigy from 1953 which was on coins until 1964. Two more program issues are upcoming, one representing the portrait of the Queen from 1990 to 2002 and the last for the effigy used from 2003 to present.

Coin Designs and Specifications

Designed by British sculptor and artist Arnold Machin, this portrait of Queen Elizabeth II first appeared on Canadian coins in 1965, when she was 39 years old. The Queen is shown wearing a jeweled tiara and an elaborate gown. The effigy is encircled with the Latin inscription of ELIZABETH II and D. G. REGINA (Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen).

Reverses, designed by Canadian artist Celia Godkin, feature two sugar maple leaves. Pointing downward, the overlapping leaves are attached by their stems to a single twig at the top. CANADA, 2015 and the legal tender face value of 10 DOLLARS are inscribed around the two leaves.
