America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coin sales were divided in 2014 compared to the year earlier. On average, they strengthened for fixed-priced collectible editions yet weakened for bullion versions that became cheaper as the value of silver tumbled.

Introduced in 2010 alongside the America the Beautiful Quarters and sharing their designs, all five ounce coins from before 2014 are no longer available from the U.S. Mint. At this writing, four of the five 2014-dated bullion coins have sold out while one of the 2014-dated uncirculated coins is gone with two listed as "out of stock."

Each of the 2014 collectible uncirculated silver coins launched at $154.95. It appears that the last release may end with the lowest mintage with sales so far at fewer than 20,000 units. Depicting Everglades National Park in Florida, the coin had the misfortune of launching when silver was at a 4-year low. That made its premium above its melt value higher than past issues. Also hurting, the U.S. Mint ended an attractive 10% discount promotion. Many collectors were able to get the four earlier issues for $15.50 less, paying $139.45 per coin.

Conversely, the Everglades bullion coin has the highest 2014 sales at 34,000 units. Five ounce bullion coins are not offered directly to the public like the collectible uncirculated editions. Instead, the U.S. Mint sells them through a network of authorized distributors at a price of $9.75 per coin plus spot. With silver prices depressed to multi-year lows, buyers were getting the Everglades bullion piece at bargain prices compared to earlier issues.

These coins are struck at the Philadelphia Mint to a 3-inch diameter and 99.9% silver purity. Only the collector version has the Philadelphia Mint’s "P" mint mark, however. Here is a table of current sales for both types of America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coins. Those with an asterisk (*) are no longer available.

2010 Yosemite 26.716
2010 Grand Canyon 25.967
2010 Mount Hood 26.637
2011 Gettysburg 22.390
2011 Glacier 18.799
2011 Olympic 16.434
2011 Vicksburg 16.522
2011 Chickasaw 14.807

2012 Chaco Culture 13.902
