Expanding upon a series which has proven popular with both collectors and investors, the Royal Canadian Mint has released the 2015 $50 Beaver Silver Coin.

The release appears as the third issue in a series of 99.99% pure silver coins that sell at their legal tender face value of $50. The two coins previously offered in the $50 for $50 series include:

According to the Royal Canadian Mint when this article was published, all 100,000 of the $50 Polar Bear Coin sold while the $50 Snowy Owl Coin has attained sales reaching 81% of its maximum 90,000 mintage.

Companion $20 for $20 and $100 for $100 silver coin programs are also offered by the Royal Canadian Mint. Like this series, the two companion programs have also seen enthusiastic interest.

Designs, Specifications and Mintages

Canadian artist Emily Damstra designed the image found on the reverse of the 2015 $50 Beaver Silver Coin. It depicts a beaver in its natural habitat. The creature is seen swimming in a body of water with a tree-filled shoreline behind. In the background, a wolf is also depicted gazing over the scene.

Reverse inscriptions include CANADA, 50 DOLLARS and 2015 along with the artist’s initials of ED. Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse.
