2015 Chinese Lion Dance Silver Proof Coin
Struck with a colored reverse design, the 2015 Chinese Lion Dance 1 oz Silver Proof Coin depicts a Chinese lion dance with a firecracker and two lanterns in the background.
"The Chinese lion dance is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture dating back to the Han Dynasty (205 BCE to 220 CE) in China," offers the Perth Mint. "The dance is performed during Chinese New Year and other traditional, cultural, and religious festivals and is thought to bring good luck and fortune."
Mintage of the Australian silver coin is 5,000. Each comes housed in an illustrated presentation card. Pricing is AUS $90 or US $78.22.
2015 Year of the Goat Gold Coin in High Relief
The Perth Mint continues its celebration of the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac with the Australian Lunar Series II program and its most recent issue, the 2015 Year of the Goat 1oz Gold Proof High Relief Coin.
This coin features a high relief design of an adult goat standing on a ridge in a stylized mountain scene.
"The goat is the eighth sign of the Chinese zodiac," describes the Perth Mint on its website. "The goat is a symbol of independence and curiosity and those born under the influence of the sign are said to be elegant, charming, artistic, gifted and calm. People born in the Year of the Goat are artistic, kind, inspired, very empathetic, and naturally creative."
Composed of one ounce of 99.99% pure gold, mintage of this Australian high relief coin is listed at only 388.
Lunar Good Fortune 2015 Year of the Goat Silver Proof Two-Coin Set
A 2015 Year of the Goat Wealth and Wisdom Silver Proof Two-Coin Set is issued by the Perth Mint as part of the companion Lunar Good Fortune Series.
The two coins offer designs of a goat with one picturing the creature in front a mountain of gold coins, representing wealth (shown above), and the other showing the animal in front of a depiction of the Tree of Wisdom (shown below).
Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, both coins are struck from 99.9% pure silver and limited to 1,500. They ship together in a gray Perth Mint display case. Pricing is AUS $180 or US $156.44.
