2009 marked the start of proof Platinum Eagle designs depicting the core principles in the preamble of the U.S. Constitution. This year’s coin ends the design series. That factor and its price are supportive. The opening price of this year’s issue at $1,650 is the lowest of the group. The U.S. Mint actually had the coin listed for $1,600 during the first few hours of its release.
