On coin reverses is a design inspired by an iconic photograph of a tender moment in Canada during the Second World War. Snapped by Claude P. Dettloff in New Westminster, B.C. on Oct. 1, 1940, the "Wait For Me, Daddy" photo shows the British Columbia Regiment marching down the street with a young boy breaking away from his mother’s grasp to reach out to his marching father. The father is seen turning, smiling and reaching for his son one last time before leaving for war. Added coin inscriptions read: REMEMBER, 2014 and SOUVENIR.

"This new circulation coin furthers our proud tradition of remembering the many sacrifices of Canadians at times of war," said Marc Brûlé, Interim President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint.

Obverses feature Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II within an inner golden ring surrounded by inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, DG REGINA, CANADA and 2 DOLLARS.
