Today, Sept. 16, the United States Mint began selling its annually issued Presidential $1 Four-Coin Sets. Like past sets, buyers have options of two products. One is with coins struck at the Philadelphia Mint and one is with coins produced at the Denver Mint.

In each are circulating quality examples of this year’s dollars featuring portraits of former presidents Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Presidential $1 Four-coin sets were introduced two years ago even though the series honoring former Presidents debuted in 2007. Collectors until 2012 could attempt to get new dollars at banks, but the U.S. Mint is now the single originating source since $1 coins are no longer released into circulation.

A handy feature of the sets is their packaging. Designed with collectors in mind, the dollars are easily removed so they can be placed in albums or other numismatic displays.

Another advantage to the sets is that they offer a convenient way to get the 2014 P&D Presidential $1 Coins at once without having to make separate purchases in larger quantities. The U.S. Mint sells the same dollars in 25-coin rolls, 100-coin bags and 250-coin boxes in prices ranging from $32.95 to $111.95. Each four-coin set is $12.95.

Ordering Presidential $1 Four-Coin Sets

Anyone interested in these new products can order them online through this U.S. Mint product page, or call the toll-free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

On the outer packaging of the $1 coins is, "2014 UNITED STATES MINT PRESIDENTIAL $1 FOUR-COIN SET." It also states the coins’ mint of origin.

There is a limit of 15,000 units for the Denver sets and 15,000 units for the Philadelphia sets. There are no per household ordering restrictions.
