On Thursday, July 17, the U.S. Mint announced that the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will discuss a "potential 2015 24K Gold Ultra-High Relief Coin and accompanying silver medal."
The CCAC will hold the public meeting via teleconference at 3:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
This is likely to be the most interesting CCAC event since its meeting in April when the body proposed a replacement design for the reverse of American Silver Eagles.
Interested collectors, or anyone else for that matter, may sit in on the discussion. It will be held in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Mint Headquarters in the South Conference Room on the fifth floor at 801 Ninth St. NW. Officially, the purpose of this meeting is to conduct business related to the CCAC’s responsibility to advise the Secretary of the Treasury on themes and designs pertaining to United States coinage.
The U.S. Mint’s last ultra-high relief product was the 2009 $20 24K Gold Ultra-High Relief Double Eagle Coin which was a recreation of the famed Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ designed 1907 $20 Double Eagle gold piece (www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/ultrahigh). It turned into a huge hit. Collectors drove its final unaudited sales to 115,178.

There will be no limits. Maybe 250K on silver
The limit of 5 Gold coins per household gives the individual a better chance of getting one. Most collectors will get only one or two due to the cost. 10 Gold coins per household would total close to $17,000 (at current prices) if the gold coin weight is 1 Troy Ounce.
I would prefer to see the U.S. gold buffalo coin designed into an ultra high relief version in 2015 instead of another double eagle.

How will the 2015 UHR affect the current price of 2009 UHRs? IMO, those holding “high-end” 09 UHRs (e.g., PCGS/NGC MS70PLs) should unload them at the first sign of a 2015 release.
