As of noon today, May 6, sales of the annual Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Set began for the 2014 edition.

This United States Mint collector product has 8 uncirculated 2014 Presidential $1 Coins that are presented in an informational folder for a regular price of $16.95 and a discounted subscription price of $15.25.

Presidential $1 Coin Uncirculated Sets debuted seven years ago, in 2007, which is the year the U.S. Mint began the Presidential $1 Coin Program. These annual set have 8 coins – 4 from the Philadelphia Mint and 4 from the Denver Mint. The features of this year’s set include the 2014 Presidential $1 Coins with portraits and inscriptions as follows:

  • WARREN G. HARDING, IN GOD WE TRUST, 29th PRESIDENT and 1921-1923. (Designed and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso.)

  • CALVIN COOLIDGE, IN GOD WE TRUST, 30th PRESIDENT and 1923-1929. (Designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.)

  • HERBERT HOOVER, IN GOD WE TRUST, 31st PRESIDENT and 1929-1933. (Designed and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.)

  • FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT, IN GOD WE TRUST, 32nd PRESIDENT and 1933-1945. (Designed and sculpted by Joseph Menna.)

These are found on the obverse or heads side of the coin.

All 8 uncirculated dollars are held within a durable folder that includes short biographies and portraits of each president. The coins are also mounted in rotatable blisters for protection and easy viewing.

Presidential $1 Coin Designs

As previously mentioned, the heads side of each coin bears the inscription of the president’s name, the order of presidency, dates served and "In God We Trust."

Every Presidential $1 Coin shares a common reverse design of Don Everhart’s rendition of the Statue of Liberty. There are also inscriptions of ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’ and the ‘$1’ denomination.

Another feature that is shared among dollar coins is letterings that are incused along their edges.

These edge letterings include the words ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM,’ the year ‘2014’ and the ‘P’ or ‘D’ mint mark to denote the U.S. Mint facility in Philadelphia or Denver. The edges of the coins are visible through the set’s protective blisters.

Presidential $1 Coin Specifications

The clad dollar composition comes from 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, 2% nickel with the remaining balance in copper. Each dollar weighs 8.100 grams and has a diameter of 26.49 mm (1.043 inches).

The regular price for this set is $27.95 with subscribers paying $25.15. Subscribers are those who want to receive certain U.S. Mint products automatically each year when they launch, bypassing the manual process of placing an order each time. This year the Mint is offering a 10% subscription discount on many of its core offerings.
