These launch alongside other new issues, like the second release in a series dedicated to mother’s love, coins celebrating the centenary of Australian submarines, gold and silver coins depicting the Great Barrier Reef and the second release from the Young Collectors Superpowers series.

Below is summary information on these and several other April 2014 Perth Mint product releases:

2014 Proof Australian Sovereign Gold Coin

Gold sovereigns were first struck in Australia on June 23, 1855 at the Sydney branch of Britain’s Royal Mint. Called Type I sovereigns, those coins have become an important part of Australian numismatic history.

These new 2014 Australian Sovereign Gold Proof Coins are reminders of those first Type I issues as they contain the same basic reverse design. However, the modern adaptation replaces the original "SYDNEY MINT" inscription with "PERTH MINT."

The gold sovereigns are struck from 91.67% pure gold to proof quality. Each ships in a wooden display case with an illustrated shipper and a numbered certificate of authenticity. Mintage is limited to only 1,500 with current pricing listed as AUS $613.63, or US $567.85.

2014 Australian Koala 1 Kilo Silver Proof Coin

The release of the 2014 Australian Koala 1 Kilo Silver Proof Coin marks only the third annual issue of the series of kilo koala strikes. Those familiar with Australian coins, however, know silver koalas date back several years earlier to 2007. They have become a popular series owing, in large part, to their annually changing reverse designs depicting the marsupials.

I have to admit that PERTH has some pretty and nice coins. I like to see what they have next. If anyone gets the chance to buy coins from PERTH I recommend that you do so, they are pretty and good quality. PERTH has great coins on history too! So please give PERTH a try.

I bought the submarine coin just a few days ago along with the high relief kookabera, well worth putting into my collection, the previous month i ordered my third in the megafauna series and the 100 years of aviation coin, I love the perth mint I just wish they focused less on the color enhancements they do and just focus on the coins, im not a big fan of silver being colored but they have series which I cant get enough of
