This year’s program from the BEP commemorates the five branches of the United States Armed Forces representing Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.

"This collection features an exquisite compilation of unique engraved vignettes focusing on the age-old art of intaglio printing," describes the BEP’s website.

Through the subscription program, the collection of five intaglio prints may be purchased for $85.00, marking a total savings of $27.50 off the cost of ordering the prints individually. Each print will go on sale for $22.50 and launch at different times throughout this year. The subscription not only offers a cheaper price per print, it guarantees subscribers will get one.

Collectors have until Feb. 26, 2014 to subscribe and thus ensure the receipt of the five prints. Release dates for the "Defenders of Freedom" Intaglio Prints follow:

  • Army will launch on Feb. 27, 2014 in conjunction with the BEP’s participation at the ANA’s National Money Show in Atlanta, Georgia,
  • Navy will launch on April 14, 2014,
  • Marines will launch on June 16, 2014,
  • Air Force will launch on Aug. 5, 2014, and
  • Coast Guard will launch on Sept. 22, 2014.

The BEP is accepting subscription orders for the 2014 Intaglio Print Subscription Program "Defenders of Freedom" on its website, www.moneyfactorystore.gov.

Each Intaglio Print measures 8 1/2" x 11".

Last year’s commemorative program, "Ideals in Allegory," was dedicated to the female allegorical figures symbolizing peace, justice, and liberty. The subscription price for those three prints totaled $51, and prices for the individual releases were $22.50.
