These limited-edition 75th anniversary Superman coins are available in seven different versions to include one 14 karat gold coin, five 99.99% pure silver coins and one cupro-nickel variety.

Canadian artist Joe Shuster partnered with writer Jerry Siegel to develop the concept of Superman. Their collaboration first appeared in comic books in June of 1938 with Superman exploding in popularity to the point where he is arguably the most well-known super hero in modern day culture.

"Superman is the most iconic Super Hero with legions of fans around the world that span multiple generations," said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President, Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. "We’re thrilled to partner with DC Entertainment to offer the Royal Canadian Mint the ultimate DC Comics Super Hero in this honorable collection that embodies the world of Superman."

All I can say is that I pray the US Mint never goes down this road…

Agree @RonnieBGood…… what a joke this theme is. Whats next? Popeye, Bugs Bunny and sesame street editions?

Tom Thumb

agree looks like something from the franklin mint.

These are really cool. To think they are acutally coins and not medallions. These would appeal to a lot of people that aren’t coin collectors. The reason coin collecting is dying is because new collectors aren’t coming on board. Maybe this will get a few more started.

whats next?

Since when is coin collecting dying?
The US Mint’s sales are the envy of the world mint’s! Every coin I have put up for sale has sold easily and well. Found any good coins in pocket change? No? Someone is collecting!

Seems we now have coin collecting for fun , and coin collecting for profit & investment. Why not , maybe it will attract more young people to the hobby. God knows there’s enough greed in collecting these days .
