The 2012-P Acadia National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin sold out Wednesday

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, another 2012-P America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin sold out.

No longer available is the collector coin depicting Acadia National Park in Maine. It was third in release order of the five ATB silver coins issued for 2012. Three of them are now left.

Based on the latest available sales figures from the United States Mint, the 2012-P Acadia coin could challenge the 2012-P Hawaii Volcanoes coin as the scarcest of the 2010-2012 coins that are no longer available. (Update: That did not happen. See the note below.) The Hawaii Volcanoes coin sold out in February with final reported U.S. Mint sales of 14,863.

Released on August 13, 2012 at a price of $204.95, sales for the 2012-P Acadia National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin reached 14,716 as of Monday, February 18, 2013. It advanced 120 during the previous seven days while priced at $229.95.

[Update Note: Sales for the Acadia silver coin advanced 262 to 14,978 between February 18 and February 20, 2013, according to the U.S. Mint. The bureau did not report a sales update for the coin in the following week, meaning 14,978 is the final unaudited Acadia coin sales total.]

Here is a list of the latest U.S. Mint sales for all five 2012-P America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Coins.

5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin Release Dates Latest Sales Notes

2012-P Denali National Park and Preserve Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin Nov 5, 2012 13,831

As the figures are current only to Monday and the 2012-P Acadia coin sold out on Wednesday, its total should rise modestly in next week’s U.S. Mint sales report.

Original published mintages were 25,000 for the uncirculated coins for 2012, but collector demand is an overriding factor controlling production. It seems even more likely now that the U.S. Mint produced 15,000 each of the Chaco Culture, Acadia, Hawaii and Denali silver coin. If so, the two remaining coins in that group could sell out soon. As for the first issue in 2012, the El Yunque coin looks to have enjoyed a stronger production level as sales topped 16,000 some time ago.

Release dates for the 2013 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins remain unpublished as the U.S. Mint has yet to decide or announce their mintages.
