Silver Proof Set, American Silver Eagle Coin Set Starts June for US Mint

June looks to be a busy month for the United States Mint. Among the first new products to hit the numismatic street will be two silver proof sets — a core annual offering and a two-coin set featuring San Francisco minted American Silver Eagle coins.

On Monday, June 4, the 2012 Silver Proof Set will be released for $67.95, the same price as last year’s issue. Seven of the 14 proof coins are struck in 90% silver while the other seven are of the normal clad composition. The seven silver coins are the five America the Beautiful Quarters for 2012, plus the Kennedy half dollar and Roosevelt dime.

When the set goes on sale, collectors will be able to purchase it through the U.S. Mint website on this annual coin sets page.

Next up, on Thursday, June 7, is the 2012 American Silver Eagle San Francisco Two-Coin Proof Set. This unique set will partner up two strikes from the U.S. Mint facility in San Francisco, a proof American Silver Eagle and a reverse proof American Silver Eagle. The set was recently reported to be priced at $149.95.

When launched, the Silver Eagles from San Francisco may be purchased for a limited time directly from the U.S. Mint via its product page located here. The set will be on sale for only four weeks between June 7 and July 5, 2012.

Each of the new products will be available on their respective issue date beginning at 12:00 noon ET.
