In The Lead – BitterSwiss Chocolate
A second session of gains was on tap for gold as some buyers returned to the market in the wake of the yellow metal's ability to regain the $1,770.00 value zone and as the rising concern over Europe's economic fate motivated others to place additional bets on bullion. Spot dealings in New York opened with a $12 per ounce gain in the gold pits and the indicated bid-side quote was $1,778.00 an ounce.
Today's gains once again (as in several previous wild sessions last week) came not at the expense of the US dollar and not in concert with rising black gold, and-for a change-they were also [...]

Gold Rises 0.9%, Silver Advances 0.5%, Silver Eagles Top 27M
U.S. gold futures advanced 0.9 percent Monday, breaking a two-day losing streak. A weaker U.S. dollar was credited for bolstering investments in the yellow metal.
"The weaker dollar is definitely providing some support" to gold, Matthew Zeman, a strategist at Kingsview Financial in Chicago, said in a telephone interview, according to Bloomberg. "The market will likely remain rangebound as people are returning to equities because of positive economic numbers."
December gold prices rose $15.40 to settle at $1,758.00 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Gold moved from [...]

In The Lead – Milling Rumors
Monday morning's markets saw a lower opening in gold but a tad higher values in the other components of the complex. Gold continued to be sold off and it lost $10.60 per ounce (to $1,735.70) out of the starting gate as risk appetite made a tentative reappearance among market participants, as it also did on Thursday and on Friday.
The decline in the yellow metal took place despite a small (0.14) dip in the greenback on the trade-weighted index (to 74.38) but then again in the past several sessions there really has been a notably poor inverse correlation between bullion and the dollar [...]
Gold Prices Surge 5.5% on Week, Silver Rebounds 2.4%, Bullion Coins...
U.S. gold futures fell for a second straight day, but emerged 5.5 percent higher than last Friday and extended its streak of weekly gains to six.
Gold's two-day loss was attributed to profit-taking, a rebound in equities, CME Group's decision to hike margins on gold contracts and a correction to gold's meteoric rise.
In ending the week, December gold prices declined $8.90, or 0.5 percent, to $1,742.60 an ounce on the Comex in New York [...]
