The latest US Mint sales figures recaps the week which included Memorial Day. Collectors tend to be more tepid in coin buying surrounding holidays, as personal time takes focus. That and the lack of new US Mint product releases has resulted in a rather mundane reporting week.
Still, 21 numismatic products outperformed their previous weekly gains as compared to 17 previously. Although in this round and for the first time in some weeks there were several coins which had their totals decremented due to cancellations and returns. Those included the:
- Proof Medal of Honor Silver Dollar (-259 to 88,804)
- Uncirculated Medal of Honor Silver Dollar (-64 to 35,182)
- Proof Abigail Fillmore First Spouse Gold Coin (-3 to 6,140)
- Grand Canyon Three-Coin Set (-64 to 15,386)
- Lincoln Presidential $1 Coin Rolls from Philadelphia (-25 to 49,135)
Last week on Thursday the uncirculated Mary Todd Lincoln First Spouse Gold Coin sold out. Its sales total was adjusted higher by 1, bringing it to 3,761. However, the recently sold out uncirculated Yellowstone 5 oz coin remained unchanged at 27,000. Collectors will turn their attention to the new uncirculated Yosemite 5 oz coin which becomes available today at noon ET. That should add some spice into next week’s US Mint sales report.
In terms of top numismatic product sellers from a unit perspective, the three leaders were the:
- 2011 Proof Set (+7,302 to 736,875)
- 2011 Silver Proof Set (+4,334 to 411,784)
- 2011 Mint Set (+3,388 to 384,304)

The bullion sales figures also include 469,500 of the 2010-dated Silver Eagle coins sold in January.
