US Mint Sales: Abigail; First Spouse Gold Coins Shine Brightest

0

US Mint Sales Figures ImageAbigail Fillmore First Spouse Gold Coins have been added to the latest United States Mint sales report. Their numbers — along with other gold pieces in the first lady series — shined the brightest compared to other numismatic products which were mostly sluggish.

Abigail Fillmore $10s reached 2,881 between their launch on Thursday and through Sunday. Their three-day tally was higher than opening sales from the prior four First Spouse coin launches. Figures came in 1,824 for the proof version and 1,057 for the uncirculated option.

The 24 karat coins as a group enjoyed better week-over-week sales — even after taking out the new Abigail numbers and despite the Anna Harrison’s going off sale with zero additions for the week. With these exclusions applied, 174 were purchased last week compared to 127 from the prior one.

The other gold coin to see more action was the bullion American Gold Eagle. The 22 karat pieces advanced 16,000 to reach year-to-date sales of 64,500. The prior weekly increase was 11,000. On the other hand, sister American Silver Eagles have stood still at 1.9 million this month since March 15.

Proof 2010 Disabled American Veterans Silver Dollars moved up 9,098 to 116,414. Uncirculated sales rose 3,334 to reach 49,954. The combined numbers are at 166,368. At the current pace it would take 14.8 weeks for the silver dollars to reach their maximum 350,000 mintage. In reality, a sell out would likely take much longer. Especially now that these commemoratives must also compete with newly released Boy Scouts $1s that are enjoying very robust sales.

The latest round of United States Mint weekly sales figures show demand has decline for all silver coins and sets.
